  2. Hehe

Me and Steinn are working to become the new lords of independant music here in Iceland.

Steinn and his friend Vardi founded a record label called Andrymi, and I'm a sort of hang-arounder there. Hopefully we'll see Vardi here soon (steinn?), he's a really cool guy with alot of experience in music: Vardi's Myspace check it out.

We plan on setting up a studio here and working with some artists.

I had the idea that we really needed a cool forum where artists, whether they're signed or unsigned, could talk about their craft and instruments.

So that's the idea, getting people together to talk about music and songwriting, etc.

It's real simple at the moment, we haven't finished designing the look. Steinn's brother Bergur will hopefully work with us on that, he's a really skilled graphic artist and photographer.

Also there'll be some more features coming soon.

....so when will you come on your hands and knees asking to sign me? only to have me turn you down by saying "dude, i work for no cat"

  4. Well, Steinn isn't a cat :D

Dude I'd love to have you signed. Whether it's feasible, with you living in Fresno, is another story :)

  8. Hey guys, I'll get Vardi on here as soon as I can, he's just really busy right now getting his shit together because he's going to NY in a few days to get his masters in composition... so he'll be stateside for the most of the next two years I'm afraid!

Anyway, geographic locations don't matter so much because we do a lot of stuff through the internet, use myspace and last.fm, and such pages to do some online promo work, upload mixes and tracks we're working on to our server, etc..

Starting a business is tough and demands a lot of stupid paperwork and shit, and also a lot of money for manufacturing, but we hope that in the next 2-3 years we can build something really cool on top of the idea of distributing free mp3's online (we are still debating whether or not to distribute entire albums online, but I will not waver from my view that distributing at least 50% of each album as free mp3's is the way of the future), and selling only the physical albums through our webstore.

But enough about andrými, this place will be an online community not just for andrými hangers-on, but for everyone interested in good music, and if it works out to help us with this Andrými project, I'd be delighted! :-)

  11. Well of course you know The Ramifications are looking for a record label!

I have no problems with working with labels overseas or wherever...I've done stuff with labels in the U.K. and Italy, as well as from all over the US, and have experience dealing with distributors in Europe and America.

    ...just so's you know...

  12. Hell yeah dude. The ramifications do rock. ;D

Steinn: It appears our little label will have alot of potential artists! =)

  13. Been listening to the ramifications -- good stuff! I'm not an expert on garage rock, but like with most forms of music I've come across, if I like it, it might just sell :-P

If you're still looking for a label in a few weeks when we've sorted more things out with Andrými I would love to discuss getting non-exclusive distribution and sales rights, and give you the details on how we usually do that type of thing! :-) .. (right now we're in paperwork hell, as well as releasing an album in Iceland, and have another album ready as well as the first single from it... so there's already a pipeline!)

  15. HTS: sorry for the slow reply man, but I just listened now ;-)

You seem to be bursting with song ideas and creativity! It would be cool to get you into a studio with a good drummer and Henrý and try and record a lot, so we could then start piecing things together in the computer, and see where it leads. You've got talent, it's just a matter of showing the world ;-) .. I hope we can be a part of that..

  16. Yeah it'd be cool to get signed by you guys, even if the record gets nowhere it'd be a great excuse to hang out with Henry. lol

but seriously I'd love to do this, but obviously theres the whole "distance" problem.

I'm in fresno, Ca and you dudes in Iceland.
I dont think I can get much farther without getting closer to you guys :P

  18. Well, like steinn said, alot of this stuff can be done over the net. Like we can collaborate with recordings and such.

Eventually it'd be good to get you over in our studio (when it opens). By them I'm sure we'll have figured something out.

Being that this is a modern operation, based heavily on internet use and promotion, I'd say there shouldn't be a problem.

And given your penchant for beautiful electric guitar lines, I'd say you'd be a good candidate for some session work, which you could then record at home and we'd mix in over here. Anything's possible if we put our minds to it, I guarantee you that.

With the magic of the internets. Think about it 50 years ago what were the chances that Americans would become friends with Icelandics without leaving their house. :P

  20. Henry: I like that, especially the real nice compliment. I think Ill take a screen shot of a zoom on that line and print it, then frame it and show it to everyone I know

Plagas: psh! me and the cat woulda met no matter what!
