  1. I don't have one anymore! When we moved, I wasn't sure where all that stuff would go, so i dumped it off on my brother-in-law's doorstep! he's got a tiny little apartment that's pretty much overflowing with studio gear now. The rest of it is in storage here in my garage.

What Ben has: Soundcraft 16 channel board, Alesis ADAT 8 track, Crown poser amp, some old ESS studio monitors from the 1970's, a couple of different tube mic pre-amps, a Yamaha DAT machine, an Alesis Quadraverb, an assortment of nice mics, stands, cables, a pile of books, and miscellaneous odds and ends.

What I've got left: broken down Fostex 16 track reel-to-reel, blown up Yamaha NS 10 monitors, patch bay, drum machine, boxes of ADAT tapes, a closet full of old reel tapes, several boxes of parts and miscellaneous junk. Plus enough materials to soundproof a couple of rooms. Plus a bunch of junk I can't even remember right now.

I'm thinking that in a few months, I'm gonna build myself a little room-within-a-room in the garage, and eventually bring the studio gear here. I was hoping to rent a place to set it all up, but rents here in Austin have gotten stupid in the past couple of years.

It's weird not having something to record on after 25 plus years of having a home studio.

  2. My setup is: Echo AudioFire8 firewire interface, a pair of M-Audio BX5a active monitors, Sennheiser HD212pro headphones (a bit too bassheavy for monitoring), Shure KSM27 mic, Shure SM57 mic (lost), a short micstand with a boom, a quality mic cable from Cordial with Neutrik plugs, a cheap mic cable, bunch of guitar cables. I also got a wicked cool amp stand from Ultimate that I can attach a boom directly to for micing.

Plus I recently bought a tambourine from Pearl :D Everyone needs a tambourine.

I'd love to have a good room for recording. And that's the plan for Andrymi -- that we'll have a recording studio.

  3. I wish I had more gear... right now I have a Yamaha MW12 usb mixer, which doesn't boot up anymore, I'm hoping it's the power supply because I bought it last may -- in austria, would kinda suck to lug it back there to get free repairs, but oh well.. Also an sm57, and a desk mic stand, m-audio oxygen8, of which the USB port got messed up while rolling around in my suitcase (note: never leave a usb cable in your bigger usb devices while traveling, no matter how much you're hurrying), a yamaha dd-55 drum machine, and that's pretty much it. On my to-buy list for AndrĂ½mi are a few things; mostly more mics, and an m-audio projectmix i/o, but I guess first and foremost more software!

  7. I've got a Powerbook G4, and I have an MBox, and now me and steinn bought a mic stand today, from Samson, which comes with a microphone. I've also got an SM57. I also have a lot of effects. I have a Vox multieffect, but before I used a Boss multieffect. I've also been using a Zvex Mammoth for distortion now. And I have a Rat, which I don't use that much. I used to have a lot of Boss pedals, but they got stolen, along with my Yamaha SG, and 4track tape recorder. Thankfully, today Andrymi bought a boss digital delay...
But I'm most proud of my guitars. I have a Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion. I also recently bought a Fender baritone special, and a Fender Bass VI. Then I have a lot of various guitars lying around. I've used one alot called Ginza, which is supposedly made in Sweden. I also have a Lyon, a 7-string Ibanez which is currently in France, a Fender Prodigy, and a banjo.

  8. Some news.. me and Vardi went on a little shopping trip today (as well as almost finishing some darned paperwork -- we will get the last bits signed tomorrow I hope) and we bought a MOTU 8PRE, which is a pretty sweet audio interface!

We also bought a couple of samson C02 mics, and a samson C01... cheap stuff, but what the hell, probably better than behringer, right?

    I also ordered myself a new midi controller, a CME UF6 ... it's fucking sweet! =D

  9. I've started using the Motu. it's sounds fucking good. those samsons are pretty cool too, though they have a sign with a trash can with an x over it. Maybe they expect us to throw them away after use?

  11. It's a sign so people know they are not disposable, or single-use only, like batteries... well, at the price they were it would be an honest mistake to think so.

"Hey Vardi, we need more disposable microphones!"
