No great loss....</p> <p>I think I understand what's been going on with her career though...she can't keep a band because she's...well...she's..</p> <p>On the plus side, Scoz' and my soukous group is coming along nicely. So I hate to see that evaporate. </p> <p>Also, I hate to see this person make such a bizarre change like that.<br /> It might well explain why so many musicians have come and gone through this person's career.</p> <p>I don't know if it's drug usage/abuse (and I mean that legal stuff)or some kind of schizophrenia or what-seriously it's like that. It's really sad actually. And it's bizarre. The gig I've been doing has just taken a strange turn and it's not for the better.</p> <p>The woman has hired her friend Candy to sing backup (which means she gets paid to STAND THERE and sing maybe two words per song....) and to top it all off...she's now calling the band "Candyland"...and as of the most recent gig, Candy stands centerstage! </p> <p>Of course, it was the first time my wife, Scoz' wife, and some friends came out to see the band...they were all wondering..."What the?"</p> <p>It's all very weird. This bandleader was super professional and particular about every little thing when I joined two months ago...you know, like what notes not to play, not to be late, not get drunk, etc...</p> <p>Suddenly, all that stuff has gone out the window-now suddenly it's okay to be 20 minutes late getting started...want to order drinks from the stage? Hey! order TWO for yourself-they're SMALL!! Sing off key? Whatever!</p> <p>So I don't know what the hell is going on...if this bandleader is on some kind of bender, or what. Things go along well for a couple of months, everyone seems professional enough, the material is fun to play and challenging enough to keep the musicians interested, and the pay (though not great) is enough to keep the sidemen on board.<br /> The instrumentation is a bit odd, acoustic guitar/vocals, percussion (congas, hand perc), and electric guitar/b vox...but the group sounds good enough for the gigs it's doing.</p> <p>BUT...eventually, this little project becomes a "band" and according to the bandleader, all sorts of great stuff, blahblah, is gonna happen. The hired players seem to think the next logical step would be to hire a ___(blank A)___ to fill out the sound.</p> <p>The bandleader, however, has other plans...which involves instead hiring a<br /> ___(blank B)__, and then inexplicably NAMING THE BAND for this new member. </p> <p>Now...what do you suppose goes in (blank A)?</p> <p>...and what do you think goes in (blank B)?</p> <p>Give me your wildest guesses!</p> <p>This is a TRUE story, so remember..truth IS stranger than fiction! </p>
