It'll sound pretty good in the low and mid range of the guitar sound, but the top-end just won't be there.

Think of it like a ladder of fixed length.
If you start on the ground floor then you can reach the 2nd storey of a building, but if you start from the basement you can only reach the 1st storey.

I'm guessing, it would be muddy sounding. Like SB was saying-it's a whole different frequency response. That's why you see effects designed just for bass-Fuzz, Wah, Chorus, Phase, etc.

Hey-I heard they even make amps just for bass!

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Snarling-Dogs-Bootzilla-Bootsy-Collins-Signature-Bass-Wah-with-Fuzz-Pedal-?sku=150555

The filter circuits in a bass-wah are set to cover a lower frequency range than in a guitar-wah.

IE: it's internal eq is set up for an instrument that is a whole octave lower.
