Definitely the type of amp that's guaranteed to Pee-Off the neighbors... Good choice!<br /> I've been noodling a lot with my little 10 Watt Peavy lately... It's totally dry... No reverb... just 2 channels... One's clean and the other is "Saturated" Hehehehehhehh... Still think the clean channel sounds better overdriven than the saturated though.... It's FUN! I LOVE the sound you get out of small little amps when you push em..... I also open up my Little Pignose 7-100 amp... Turn it up ALL the way and have a good time. I LOVE that little piggie... It's an OLD one... Absolutely Mojo amp... Been rebuilt into a handwired plexi circuit w/EL 34s, no master volume. Man, this is a good sounding amp. Really love some of their tunes.</p> <p>Sounds like you're in the eye of the storm, there, BT! :D </p> http://andrymi.com/community/topic/ian-mclagen#post-650 Mon, 22 Oct 2007 18:31:42 +0000 Breakfastime 650@http://andrymi.com/community/ <p>So this weekend I worked as a stagehand for a big (and I mean BIG) corporate party.</p> <p>They rented a restaurant with ampitheatre out back way out in the hill country, put in new lights and sound, catering (BBQ) for at least 1000 people, open bar (I wasn't allowed to imbibe...working...not playing...) and had three big name Texas acts: Jimmy Lafave, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and James McMurty.</p> <p>I've known these guys' music forever, never seen any of 'em, so it was both a job and a concert for me.</p> <p>One of the cool thingsd was, since it was a big $$ gig, McMurty was able to hire Ian Mclagen on as keyboardist. Ian is of course, the keyboardist for the faces, Rod Stewart, and some band called The Rolling Stones. Ian, I've seen play a bunch of times, but never worked with. I 'sorta' know him because when he moved to Austin 10 years ago, he would frequent a bar I worked at in those days. He is a super-cool guy and a great player of course.</p> <p>So, it was cool helping move and set up his old Hammond B-3 and Leslie-bought new in 1969, played all over the world and on more hit records than any of us can name.<br /> Pick a Stones, Rod Stewart, or faces song with organ on it-and THIS is the organ in question. Plus, a couple of years back, he had it painted PURPLE so it's an ultra-wicked thing to just feast your eyes upon Seriously, it's a piece of rock history up there with Jimmy Pages mysterious "Zozo" cabinet...</p> <p>But the really cool thing was to be able to stand six feet behind him and watch him play-he uses the exact same system I use for pickup gigs: hastily scribbled notes, and the ability to stop himself before he screws up too much! Soundcheck consisted of the band showing him the songs (really) and during the set he played great (of course)I detected maybe two or three spots where he plonked the wrong chord and aborted the mission in an instant. I doubt anyone in the crowd could tell.</p> <p>So, now I can say I've 'worked' with Ian Mclagen AND Booker T.
